Mr. John R. Welsh, 78, of Sycamore Lane, Schellsburg, died at 6:10 PM, Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at Pennknoll Village.

Mr. Welsh was born in Bedford Township on Tuesday, July 3, 1934,  the son of the late Raymond and Pauline (Morgart) Welsh.

On November 27, 1954, he married Mary V. "Bonnie" (Glessner) Welsh.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Sharon L. wife of  Joseph Neuschafer, Wilmington, NC; Daughter- Joyce A. wife of  Gary Ebersole, Osterburg; Daughter- Pamela D. wife of  Larry Habinyak, Bedford; Daughter- Betty J. wife of  Brian McCoy, Roaring Spring; Son- Dale E. husband of  Lisa (Kuckenbrod) Welsh, New Paris; Daughter- Karen J. wife of  Lemuel Bowser, Alum Bank; Daughter- Beverly S. wife of  Joseph Hillegass, Schellsburg; Sister- Marjorie Cessna, Bedford; Brother- George Welsh, Orrstown. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Addison Grainda and by three sisters, Nellie Craig, Betty Zeigler and Grace Imler and by a brother, James Welsh.

John was a member of the St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  He served in the US Marine Corp.  John was employed as a blaster for Union Tank in Altoona for 20 years.  He was also employed at Bedford County Memorial Park.  John was a member of the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440 and the VFW Post #9219.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 4th, 2013 with Father George Jakopac celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church, 101 Findley St., New Baltimore, PA 15553.
