Mr. William F. Wolfhope, 82, of Lincoln Highway, Manns Choice, died at 9:00 PM, Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Wolfhope was born in Schellsburg on Thursday, April 16, 1931, the son of the late Clement and Cecelia (Martin) Wolfhope.
On October 25, 1958, he married Shirley L. (Mock) Wolfhope. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2010.
He is survived by Son- Michael W. husband of Denise (Howsare) Wolfhope, Osterburg; Daughter- Tanya M. wife of Craig Imler, Manns Choice; Son- Donald E. husband of Anita (Cook) Wolfhope; Brother- John husband of Mary Esther Wolfhope, Bedford; Sister- Rita wife of Robert Nave, Bedford; Brother- Cyril husband of Margie Wolfhope, Bedford. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Bradley, Tiffany, Samantha, Tymier, Jeremiah, JaRod, Weston, Madison and Tyler. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Rose Wilson, Anna Easter, Mary Potts and Lena Roberts.
Bill served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was first employed at McNeal Lumber and then was employed in the receiving department at Kennamental in Bedford, retiring after 35 years. Bill was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Bedford. He was also a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman's Club, the Schellsburg VFW Post # 4440 and the Fort Bedford Antique Car Club. Bill was the proud owner of a 1931 Ford Model A.
Bill was known in the neighborhood as a "jack of all trades", fixing everything for anyone who needed his help and refusing to take any compensation. He was also a master woodworker, making replica barns, covered bridges and ferris wheels, all in miniature and with minute detailing.
In remembering Bill, our father, please celebrate his life and the legacy he has left behind. If you were lucky enough to know him, he more than likely touched your life.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Bedford at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013 with Father Donald Dusza celebrant.
Committal Services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard,
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:30 PM.
