Wayne A. Bennett

Mr. Wayne A. Bennett, 77, of Monroe, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte,NC.

Mr. Bennett was born in Cumberland, MD on Monday, April 13, 1936,  the son of the late Merle and Wilma (Hollada) Bennett.

On March 11, 2003, he married Barbara Jean (Williamson) Bennett.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Wynn wife of  Ronnie Clapper, Grandy, NC; Son- Kirk Bennett, New Paris; Step Daughter- Shannon Hunter, Memphis, TN; Brother- Marvin Bennett and Cecelia Croop, Bedford. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler, Layne, Colt, Danny and wife, Janelle and Jarrid, and three great grandchildren, Trey, Danelylnn and Dan.

Wayne owned and operated Sharbaugh Insurance Agency with offices in Ebensburg and Nanty-Glo.  He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Bedford Elks Lodge #1707, a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F&AM, a member of he Jaffa Shrine in Altoona and a member of the Harrisburg Consistory.  Previously, Wayne served on the Bedford Water Authority Board.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 6th, 2014 with Rev. Ruth Shaver officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home in Bedford.
