Mr. Vance E. Hinson, 89, of Dunkard Hollow Road, Alum Bank, died at 8:20 AM, Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mr. Hinson was born in Detroit, MI on Wednesday, December 16, 1925, the son of the late Clyde W. and Edythe (Horne) Hinson.
On February 17, 1946, he married Helen E. (Race) Hinson. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Linda D. wife of Phil Wehrung, Myrtle Beach, SC; Son- Robert William husband of Susan (Hillegas) Hinson, Alum Bank; Daughter- Joyce A. wife of Ashley Heiple, Alum Bank; Daughter- Ann C. Barker, Alum Bank. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Ritchey.
Vance was a lifelong farmer and a furniture maker. He was affiliated with the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren and served in the US Navy during W. W. II. Vance was a member of the Blue Knob Coon Hunters Association and the Nut Growers Association.
A Funeral Service will be held at Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015 with Rev. Richard Whetstone officiating.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
