Mr. Vance E. Carson, 90 of New Paris, died at 6:25 PM, Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at Pennknoll Village.
Mr. Carson was born in E. St. Clair Twp. on Thursday, November 8, 1923, the son of the late Orie and Carrie (Harbaugh) Carson.
He is survived by Sister- Rena K. Ritchey, New Paris and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Sewell, Glenn, Melvin, Virgil, Clark and Ivan.
Vance served in the US Army during W.W.II. For his service to his country, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a quadruple Bronze Star attachment, the World War II Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button, W.W.II and the Marksman Badge & Rifle Bar.
Vance was a retired truck driver, working for Cooper Jarret Trucking in New Brunswick, NJ. He was a member of the Monmouth Junction, NJ American Legion Post # 401.
A graveside service will be held at Fishertown Cemetery on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 at 11:00 Am with Rev. Daniel Oldham officiating.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
