Thomas E. Bingham, 64 of Chalybeate Road, Bedford, took his last breathe at home before entering the gates of Heaven on February 19, 2017 at 8:05 PM, with his wife and children by his side.  Tom fought a courageous four year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

Tom was born on September 29, 1952 in Bedford.  He was a devoted son of the late Harry W. Bingham and Lois M. (Shaffer) Bingham.

On June 20, 1971, he began a 45 year unity of marriage with Diane (Allison) Bingham who survives along with three beloved children, daughter Michelle (Bingham) Fleegle, married to  Travis, daughter Melanie (Bingham) Loop, married to Chad and son Matthew Bingham, married to the former Danielle (Nave), all of Bedford.  Tom is the proud Pappy of seven grandchildren; Jordan (17), Madison (12), Hunter (17), Malia (5), Harper (4), Brileigh (3) and Brayton (1).  He is also survived by brothers, Roger Bingham of New Mexico, Norman Bingham of Oklahoma, a sister, Norma of Mechanicsburg and a sister-in-law, Deb Bingham of Confluence.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Bingham and brother, Gary Bingham.

Tom was a 1970 graduate of Bedford High School.  After high school, Tom entered the Army National Guard from 1972-1978.  Later in life, Tom obtained a certificate of achievement from the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown for electrical mechanics.

Tom was a member of Bald Hill Lutheran church in Bedford, where he served on the Council as President for many years.

Tom as a very hard worker and provided for his family by working in the coal mines for eight years doing underground wiring.  He has worked for 27 years in the maintenance department at Kennametal.  He was well known and loved at Kennametal and during his time there, Tom enjoyed traveling abroad to assist in setting up machines for Kennametal in China, Russia, Poland and South Africa.

For several years, Tom served as a past president for Kennaford Credit Union, he served on the board for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and he was a board member of the Bedford Township Municipal Authority.

Tom was a true family man and his best times were spent with his loved ones.  He enjoyed camping and vacationing with his family, watching football & tinkering in his garage with his antique cars.  Tom was a jack-of-all trades and no task was too hard for him as he took great pleasure working around the house on many projects.

Tom was the root of our family and we flourished with his guidance and everlasting support.  All though not here, he lives on forever in our hearts until we meet again.  We Love You.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford with Pastor Jenny Barnes officiating.

Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.  Graveside military rites will be accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
