Thelma "Jean" (Guyton) Rightnour-Foor-Schooley, 87, of Bedford, Pennsylvania walked with Jesus to go home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at UPMC Bedford.
Jean was born in Hopewell Twp. on November 23, 1935, daughter of the late Walter and Cora May (Bowser/Hess) Guyton.
She was united in marriage to Charles A. "Buddy" Rightnour in December of 1955, who passed away unexpectedly in 1958. She then wed Norman H. Foor, in June 1962, after 20 years of marriage he walked to heaven. She married Allen Schooley, Sr. in March 1985, and he passed in January 2016.
She is survived by son- Charlie husband of Glenda Rightnour, of Bedford; daughter- Melissa Foor, of Bedford; brother- Ronald "Ron" Guyton, of Hopewell; stepchildren: Allen "Sonny" Jr., (Wanda) Schooley, of Greencastle; and Louise (Randy) Smith, of Chambersburg; grandchildren: Jennie Robles (Jovan), Alicia Mort, and Michael Rightnour; along with step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Reginia, Raissa, and Mandy Robles; Christian and Owen Mort; Draven, Kya, and Callie Rightnour; step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jean is preceded in death by all three husbands, infant son Milo, daughter Pam Shelton and her husband Coy Shelton, brothers: Chester, Walter Jr., David and John, and sisters: Ruby Kauffman, Grace Stever, and Betty Riley; and grandson Charles Rightnour Jr.
She started work at an early age and ventured into a multitude of professions. Some highlights are being an early telephone operator, an Avon dealer, Snake Spring Township tax collector, and a Life Alert Dealer. She was one of the most popular and beloved Tupperware dealers in the area for many years. She was highly involved in church and was a Sunday School teacher and mentor to many. She met her last two husbands in church. Most of all though she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that met her. Her heart and compassion set her apart.
She loved being outside with nature and gardening, crosswords, puzzles, reading and vacations with her family to see the United States. She loved to crochet and was a talented seamstress even making Barbie Doll clothes before they existed. She loved her pet cats and doted on them. She sang in church choir and loved to sing to children. She always wanted to be a nurse and, in some ways, achieved that.
She will be greatly missed and leave a hole in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.
