Mrs. Sylvia M Mowry, 96, formerly of New Baltimore, died at 4:04 PM, Saturday, February 28th, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones at Arbutus Park Retirement Community in Johnstown.

Mrs. Mowry was born in New Baltimore on Monday, July 8, 1918,  the daughter of the late Charles F. and Grace (Lehman) Fochtman.

She is survived by  Son- James Q. husband of  Linda (Clark) Mowry, Johnstown; Son- Patrick J. husband of  Margaret E. (Helm) Mowry, Fredricksburg, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher P. Mowry, Dana M. Mowry, Jonathan A. Mowry, Tanya Irwin & Jamie Harper, and seven great grandchildren, Alyssa Irwin, James Irwin, Marcus Irwin, Lauren Harper, Nicolette Harper, Sierra Harper & Arianna Earley. She was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Mowry, four sisters, Irene Hankinson, Gertrude V. Diehl, Kathleen Marshall & Margaret Burkett and by three brothers, Clarence Fochtman, Edmund Fochtman & Alfred Fochtman.

Sylvia was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  She was formerly employed as a waitress at Howard Johnson's and Ed's Steak House in Bedford.  Sylvia's life was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a loving, kind and generous person who will be missed dearly by her family and friends.  .

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 25th, 2015 with Father Richard Tomkosky celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery.
