Mr. Stephen G. "Mack" McCahan, Jr., 82, of Martinsburg, formerly of Everett, passed away at 5:55 AM, Friday, March 21st, 2014 at Homewood at Martinsburg.
Mr. McCahan was born in Saxton on Saturday, May 2, 1931, the son of the late Stephen G. McCahan, Sr. and Alice A. (Steele) McCahan.
On May 1, 1954, he married E. Jean (Tenley) McCahan. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Stephen J. husband of Susan (Hood) McCahan, Everett; Son- Matthew Lee husband of Carla (Woy) McCahan, Breezewood; Brother- Larry S. husband of Micki (Kroko) McCahan, Bedford; Sister- Jane M. wife of M. Craig Waite, Bluffton, SC. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Steve husband of Ashley (Barkman), Karen, Kevin husband of Sara (Clark), Christopher husband of Morgan (Barkman) and Madison, and five great grandchildren, Ella, Lydia, Isaiah, Grace and Eliza and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne.
Mack was a member of the Everett United Methodist Church. He was a 1949 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and a 1953 graduate of Temple University. While at Temple, he was a charter member of the Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity. Mack served in the United States Navy. Along with his brother and son, he owned and operated Everett Rexall Pharmacy and McCahan's Pharmacy in Saxton for over 50 years.
Mack was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge #524 F&AM, the Harrisburg Consistory and the Altoona Jaffa Shrine. He was on the board for the former Everett Bank and a member of Tall Cedars, Lebanon. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and attending sports events, especially Penn State Football and Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball. Mack was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a wonderful brother, a loyal friend and a devoted member of the community. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Everett at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 with Pastor Debi Decker officiating.
Interment will be held at Everett Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Everett.
