Mr. Stanley K. Snavely, 96, of Colonial Courtyard, Bedford, formerly of Manns Choice, died at 7:50 AM , Friday, February 10th, 2012 at Donahoe Manor.
Mr. Snavely was born in Manns Choice on Wednesday, May 26, 1915, the son of the late George W. and Viola Alice (Wertz) Snavely.
On August 17, 1940, he married Fern (Ferguson) Snavely. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2011.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Snavely, his sister, Pearl Crawford, his niece, Louise Sheirer, his special nephew, Guy Ferguson, that both he and Fern reared in their home and by his beloved dog, Laddie.
Stan served as a corporal in the motor pool of the US Army during W.W.II. He also served as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War with the 306 Engineer Dump Truck 32nd Group.
Stan was retired from Brown Motor Supply after 31 years of employment as a mechanic. He was a member of the Manns Choice United Methodist Church. Stan was also a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #370, the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and the Bedford VFW Post #7527.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 with Rev. Mark Griffith officiating.
Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manns Choice. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
