Shirley L. "Shirl" (Burkholder) Hankinson

Mrs. Shirley L. "Shirl"  Hankinson, 65, of Juniata St., New Baltimore died Wednesday, November 27th, 2013 at Windber Hospice.

Mrs. Hankinson was born in Rockingham on Thursday, July 8, 1948,  she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel (Morrison) Burkholder.

On August 17, 1970, she married Bernard J. Hankinson.  In addition to her husband she is survived by Daughter- Kathy Nail, Bedford; Son- Joseph Hankinson, New Baltimore; Son- Roger Helsel, Gibsonburg, OH; Brother- Allen Burkholder, Central City; Brother- Ralph Burkholder, Central City. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, Ashley, Alissa & Madison, and two great grandchildren, Jasmine & Nicholas.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lydia Freidline, Lois King and Delores Custer & by four brothers, Vernon, Richard, Robert and Alvin.

Shirl was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  She was employed as a nurse's aid at Donahoe and had previously worked at the Rainsburg Home and the Rowzer's Foster Home.  Shirl had a very compassionate soul and will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 29th, 2013 with Father Richard Tomkosky celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
