Mrs. Sara June Nicodemus, 88, of Point Road, Bedford, died at 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 2nd, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Nicodemus was born in E. St. Clair Township on Sunday, April 27, 1924, the daughter of the late John W. "Billy" and M. Elizabeth "Lizzy" (Ferguson) Fleegle.

On December 21, 1942, she married Melvin V. Nicodemus.  He preceded her in death on January 9, 1995.

She is survived by  Daughter- Judy E. Kendell, Bedford; Son- Jerald E. "Skeet" Nicodemus, Bedford; Son- John R. husband of  Pauline Nicodemus, Bedford; Grandson- Ronald husband of  Karen Nicodemus; Granddaughter-  Lesley wife of  Mark Kennedy; Grandson- Rodney Nicodemus; Grandson- Jason husband of  Michelle Hockenberry; Granddaughter-  Susan wife of  Richard Smyers; Granddaughter-  Tracey wife of  Scott Miller; and ten great grandchildren, Bryan Nicodemus, Kristen & Austin Kennedy, KC & Savannah Hockenberry, Nerissa Miller, James & Kaleb Smyers and Reva & Scotty Miller;  Brother- Charles husband of  Mary Fleegle, Bedford; Brother- Robert husband of  Kathleen Fleegle, Bedford; Sister- Dolly wife of  Leon Whysong, Bedford.  She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kayla Nicodemus, three sisters, Florean Schnably and her husband Don, Mary Ellen Ferguson and her husband, Don and Edith Smith and her husband Carl and by a son-in-law, Charlie Kendall

Sara was a member of the Sloans Hollow United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fishertown WCTU.  She was employed at Fairfoot Shoe Factory in Bedford.  Sara also worked as a waitress at the North Midway Plaza Howard Johnsons and as a Stanley Home Products demonstrator.   She enjoyed performing and appeared with the Ritchey Brothers as "Sally", a comedian/singer.  Sara also performed in a duo with Hazel Ritchey.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 6th, 2012 with Rev. J.R. Virgin officiating.

Interment will be held at  Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manns Choice.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
