Ruth J. Mock-Kos, 101, formerly of New Paris went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 11, 2019.
She was born at home in Napier Twp. on June 24, 1918, daughter of the late Sheridan and Sadie M. (Gordon) Rowzer. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Edward L. Mock whom she married on December 25, 1936 in Cumberland, MD by the Rev. Charles Baughman, Edward preceded her in death on July 9, 1978. She married Frank J. Kos on August 10, 1995 a WW II Veteran in Renton, WA by Rev. Michael Hoffman, Frank preceded her in death on July 14, 2011 both died from cancer. Two Siblings, Mayetta Grace Hornick and Brother- Frank Rowzer, Daughter-Clara Soltes and two infant grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by two daughters Carol married to Paul Pyle of Rockwood and Connie married to Jack Diehl of Everett. Three Step-children, Sue Rutherford, Mary Kirker, and Frank Kos, Jr. all of Washington State. She has 9 Grandchildren: John Soltes Jr., Janet Spisock, Kristine married to Robert Ayscue, all of N.C., Cindy married Earl Spangler, Karen married to Sam Dibert, Mary married to Brian Stahl, all of Rockwood and Kerry Pyle married to Shannon of Montana; Denice married to Jeff Dible of Milroy, Tamy married to Dave Thompson of Virginia. There are 23 Great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also a special friend and care-giver Wilma Fetters.
Ruth and Ed worked at the Glenn L. Martin Air Craft plant in Baltimore, MD during W.W II where she was known as one of the original “Rosie the Riveters”. She was also employed at Best Form in Windber and Fairfoot Shoe Factory in Wolfsburg.
She enjoyed riding horsed on the old mountain trails with her daughters, also gardening, embroidery work and traveling out West with the Pyle family.
Ruth loved the Lord and reading her Bible and was faithful listener and supporter of the Oliver Green Radio Program. Ed and Ruth were Charter Members of the Faith Brethren Bible Church and then became a member of Rocklick Hollow Historic Baptist Church of New Paris.
Ruth and her stories about the Good Old Days will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 2-4PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg with Pastors Dana Umbel and Jerry Jackson officiating.
