Ruby I. (McDonald) Crist

March 14, 1923 — February 22, 2020

Ruby I. Crist, 96, of Bedford passed away on Saturday, February 22,2020 after a brief time at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont, PA. Ruby is survived by her loving family: Daughter Carol J. Faidley (Ray), Hummelstown, PA, son Alvin W. Feather (Saundra), York Haven, PA and son Jack G. Feather (Patricia) Tombstone, AZ. Along with grandchildren Michael Feather, Michelle Bloodsworth (Rob), Colorado Springs, CO., Julia Faidley (Brian MacWilliams), New York, NY and Dr. Jeffrey Faidley, Fairhope, PA and Great grandchildren Jacob and Margo MacWilliams, Gaston and Allee Taylor, Gray and Reed Bloodsworth also survive.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Clarence A. and Margaret (Mock) McDonald, three infants James Malcom, Jenny Dolores and Kay Olene, her first husband, Dale G. Feather and her second husband, Charles M. Crist, stepson Robert Crist and a granddaughter, Kristy D. Feather.

Also surviving are stepchildren Karen Daugherty (Harry), Bedford, Beverly Spochart (Richard), Osterburg and Valerie Weaverling (Dr. Eric), Osterburg. There are 10 Step Grandchildren, 17 Step Great Grandchildren and 3 Step Great-great Grandchildren who survive.

Ruby loved caring for her home and family and helping others. She was an active member of the Weyant Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid in her younger years. She loved to cook, bake, crochet and sew and always prided herself in keeping her home freshly painted and clean. She had a talent for creating something out of nothing. When Dale became ill, she took care of him round the clock for six years until he passed. Shortly after Ruby met Charles (Bud) Crist who had recently lost his wife. Within a year Bud and Ruby married and spent their honeymoon in Hawaii. A few years later they took a trip to England exploring the country and visiting relatives.  They learned to dance, play golf and travelled on many golf trips with friends. Life was good.

Ruby would have celebrated her 97th birthday on March 14th.  She was married to Dale for 36 years and to Bud for 44 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Pastor John Mackey at the  Weyant United Methodist Church, 1622 Heritage Road, Osterburg, PA 1666,  on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary with a Celebration of Life to immediately following in the church social room.
