Mr. Roy R. Mellott, 83, of Butler, formerly of Bedford County, died Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Mr. Mellott was born in Everett on Monday, November 14, 1932, the son of the late Charles and Hester (Colledge) Mellott.
On January 29, 1955, he married Audrey J. (Mitchell) Mellott. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Belinda D. wife of William King, Slippery Rock; Son- Clifford R. Mellott, Slippery Rock; Brother- Richard Mellott, Everett; Sister- Mary Louise Clark, Everett; Sister- Barbara Ann Gawne, Standish, MI; Brother- Michael Mellott, Breezewood. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Colby & Trevor King and Caitlin, Dana & Dustin Mellott. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Mellott.
Roy was a retired truck driver for Interstate Motor Freight and was a member of the Teamsters Local #249 Pittsburgh, #453 Bedford & #261 New Castle. He served in the US Army Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Butler American Legion Post #0778. Roy was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather, devoted brother and loyal friend. He will be missed .
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 with Pastor Robert Thacker officiating.
Interment will be held at Cuppett Cemetery, New Paris.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
