Ronald J. Whysong, 87, of Osterburg, Pennsylvania went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 28, 2024.
Ronald was born in Pavia, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 1936. He was the son of the late Harold and Anna (Lamburn) Whysong.
On July 14, 1962, he married the love of his life Barbara L. Whysong. Barb and Ron were married 62 amazing years and raised five wonderful children together.
Ronald is survived by loving wife Barbara (Harbaugh) Whysong, of Osterburg; daughter- Melody Price, of New Paris; son- Darrin husband of Tracie (Burke) Whysong, of Osterburg; son- Matthew W. husband of Bernadette (Partsch) Whysong, of Pavia; son- Scott husband of Debra (Anderson) Whysong, of Alum Bank; son- Greg husband of Vanessa (May) Whysong, of Fishertown; brothers: Dale, Hubert, and Wayne Whysong; and sister- Phyllis Shaffer; along with 11 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and two great grandsons on the way. Ronald was preceded in death by his brothers: Vernon, Gerald, and Curtis Whysong.
Ronald was a graduate of Bedford High School in the class of 1954. He was a member of the Alum Bank Community Church. Ron retired from the Butterick Company in Altoona after 23 years as the information systems and services manager.
Ronald also served his country in the United States Army from the years 1955-1957.
Ron loved fishing, hunting, and collecting antiques. His eye for timeless classics was evident in the many vintage cars he owned through the years and the many awards he won at the car shows he liked to attend. He also loved gardening and providing the food that was served during so many dinners at his house where his whole family would gather. Above all though, Ron cherished spending time with his family. He loved watching his children and then his grandchildren grow up. Ron especially enjoyed watching and cheering them on at countless sporting events. His impact on their lives will be forever remembered and cherished.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Nancy's Personal Care Home, VA home-based staff and UPMC Home Hospice Staff and special caregivers Jess & Doug for their loving compassionate caregiving to Ron.
Honoring Ron's wishes there will be no services.
Interment will be private at Pavia Cemetery, Pavia, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Hospice in lieu of flowers.
