Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Diehl, 90, of Bedford, died Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 at Pennknoll Village.
Mr. Diehl was born in Juniata Township on Sunday, March 14, 1926, the son of the late Elmer and Lucinda (Diehl) Diehl.
On November 16, 1950, he married Mildred M. (Imgrund) Diehl. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2014.
He is survived by Daughter- Annette D. wife of William Yohe, Lancaster; Daughter- Ellen R. wife of Matthew Boyer, New Paris; Son- William R. husband of Dena (Motto) Diehl, Fishertown; Grandson- Wesley husband of Trista (Price) Boyer; Granddaughter- Morgan wife of Lorne Daugherty; Grandson- Samuel husband of Laura (Hershberger) Boyer; Granddaughter- Emily Yohe; Granddaughter- Laura Yohe; Great Grandchildren- Blake & Sadie Daugherty, and Adeliza & Jensyn Boyer; Sister- Nancy Bollinger, Cumberland, MD. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles "Chap" Diehl, Paul "Beet" Diehl, Stanley "Pee Wee" Diehl, James Diehl & and infant brother and by four sisters, Irene Diehl, Edna Will, Dorothy Geller-Hillegass & Anita Mullin.
Bob was in the US Navy during W.W.II, proudly serving in the Galapagos Islands. He was employed as a truck driver for Eastern Express, Spector & Carolina Freight. Bob was a life member of the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440, a member of the Bedford American Legion and a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman's Club. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
