Mr. Robert E. Hershberger, Sr., 79, of Victory Lane, Bedford, died Monday, October 10th, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hershberger was born in Cessna on Thursday, April 29, 1937, the son of the late Ray V. and Edna M. Hershberger.
On September 13, 1956, in Cumberland, MD, he married M. Jane Foreman, who preceded him in death on March 28, 2006.
He is survived by Son- Michael L. husband of Sharon (Valiton) Hershberger, Schellsburg; Daughter- Diane L. wife of Ken Claar, Bedford; Son- Robert E. Hershberger, Jr. husband of Tina (Beltz) Hershberger, Warminster; Daughter- Nancy J. wife of Jeff Whisel, Bedford; Son- Jere D. Hershberger, York; Son- Kevin husband of Dawn (Crist) Hershberger, Imler; Son- Mark A. Hershberger, Bedford; Daughter- Amy Jo wife of Jarrod Musselman, Bedford; Sister- Ima Jane Long, Imler; Brother- Donald Hershberger, Mechanicsburg; Sister- Betty Miller, Bedford; Sister- Dorothy Barnes, York; Brother- Jim Hershberger, Bedford; Half Brother- George Michaels, Jr., North Carolina; Special Sister-in-Law- Barbara Hershberger, New Paris. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Leonard, a daughter-in-law, Jackie (Seifert) Hershberger and four brothers, Billy, Connie, Larry, and Kenny.
Bob retired after 22 years with Spector Freight Systems, then worked 24 years for Chet Bohn Cars and also drove cars for local car dealers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and having coffee with his friends at the McDonald's at the Interchange. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Reformed Church, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 14th, 2016 with Pastor Howard Sloan and Pastor Bob Hershberger, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery, Bedford.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford and on Friday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Reformed Church.
