Roberta D. (Hild) Simmons

Mrs. Roberta D. Simmons, 80, of Donahoe Manor Road, Bedford, died Friday, November 11th, 2016 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Simmons was born in Manhattan, NY on Friday, January 3, 1936,  the daughter of the late Robert W. and Beatrice (Kucharski) Hild.

On February 20, 1960, she married Thomas R. Simmons.  He preceded her in death on May 8, 2003.

She is survived by  Son- Thomas W. Simmons, Arizona; Son- Robert D. Simmons, New York, NY; Son- James S. husband of Stacey (Smith) Simmons, Everett; Grandchildren- Shanda, Dusti & James.

Mrs. Simmons was a member of the ACTS  Community Church in Bedford.  Through her church and the South East Asia Prayer Center, Roberta financially sponsored the care of five children living in an orphanage in Cambodia.  She was employed as a secretary for Edgar Nursing Home on Staten Island, NY.  Mrs. Simmons also worked for the Carl M. Loeb-Rhoades Brokerage Firm in New York City, it was here she met her husband Tom.

Roberta enjoyed playing bingo, spending time at the Senior Center and singing, especially at the hymn sings at Donahoe.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 16th,  2016 with Pastor John Bennett officiating.

Interment will be held at Trans Run Church Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
