Mr. Robert Joseph Chnapko, 56, of Leechville St., Manns Choice, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mr. Chnapko was born in Allentown on January 24, 1962, the son of Joseph R. and Angela (Kashuta) Chnapko of Emmaus.
On June 14, 1986, he married Cheryl (Wells) Chnapko. In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by Son- Jeremiah K. Smith, Anchorage, AK; Daughter- Heidi Evelyn Smith and fiancé Jeff Hale, Fishertown; Daughter- Mary Katherine Chnapko and fiancé Eric Fox, St. Augustine, FL; Daughter- Lily B. wife of Bradley Allison, Medina, OH; grandchildren, Halie, Jacob, Kaylee, Madison, Damien, Briannah, RJ, Tristan, Henry, Hunter and Baby Allison; Brother- Joseph R. Chnapko, Jr., Allentown; Brother- Jeff Chanpko, Allentown; Sister- Kara Chnapko, New York City; Sister and Brother- Lisa and Tom Cairo, Bedford; Sister-in-Law- Sue wife of Robin Heide; Sister-in-Law- Kim wife of Jim Jaques; Brother-in-Law- Korey husband of Kristie Wells.
Bob was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Madley, where he he was the President of the Church Council. He proudly served in the US Army working primarily with explosive ordinances. Bob earned his Bachelors of Engineering Degree from Lehigh University and worked as a mechanical engineer. He was most recently employed at Kennametal in Bedford.
Bob loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was very involved with nurturing the youth of the community. Bob would participate in the Eagle Scout Ceremonies and with his vast mechanical knowledge, he was a mentor to the students building robots for competition. He loved any time he was able to spend on the Florida Coast, especially in the ocean, boogie boarding. Bob enjoyed fishing, hiking and riding his Triumph Motorcycle. Above all else, he was a dedicated family man who loved his wife deeply and exemplified what it meant to be a wonderful son, father, grandfather and brother. Bob will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Madley at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 with Pastor Ryan Viands officiating.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Madley.
