Mr. Richard G. Powell, 54, of C Diehl Road, Manns Choice died at 8:15 PM, Thursday, March 24th, 2011 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Mr. Powell was born in Bedford on Tuesday, July 17, 1956, the son of the late Donald S. and Ruth  (Shippy) Powell.

On June 19, 2004, he married Billie Jo (Maldet) Powell. In addition to his wife he is survived by Step Son- Tobias Kimmel, at home; Step Son- Todd husband of  Billie Ann (Hawthorne) Huff, Johnstown; Brother- Donald husband of  Judy (Mock) Powell, Fishertown; Sister- Barbara widow of Robert Lafferty, Buffalo Mills. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Lara, Katie and Stephanie, and two great grandchildren, Lila and Conner. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews

Richard was a member of the Glade Pike Trinity United Church of Christ.  He served in the US Army from 1976 - 1979 and then in the US Navy from 1980 - 1998.  Richard was employed for the past six years by Valley Community Service in their maintenance department.

He was a member of the Schellsburg VFW Post  #4440 and the New Baltimore Sportmans Club.  Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially taking 4-wheeling trips with them.

A Funeral Service will be held at Glade Pike Trinity United Church of Christ, Manns Choice at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 28th, 2011 with Rev. Joe Ward officiating.

Interment will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Madley.  Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Glade Pike Trinity United Church of Christ and Monday 12:30 - 1:00 PM, also at the church.
