Richard E. Mitchell

Richard E. Mitchell, age 86, of Bedford,  died at 5:02 PM , Thursday, January 22nd, 2015 at home.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Detroit, MI on November 13, 1928,  he was the son of the late Alvin and Lucille (Holsopple) Mitchell.

Richard was the widower of Edna Kay (Shirey) Mitchell who passed away on June 20, 2003.

He is survived by  Son- Robert E. husband of  Connie (James) Mitchell, Bedford; Daughter- Sharon widow of  Richard Barzeski, Latrobe; Sister- Gloria wife of  Harry,  Barry, FL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren-Erik Barzeski, husband of Carey of Erie, Karlye Shirley wife of Brad, Latrobe, Colin Mitchell husband of Amy, of Pittsburgh, and Christopher Mitchell husband of Courtney, of Pittsburgh, and 4 great granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by brothers-Don and Larry Mitchell.

Richard was a life member Bedford Elks Lodge 1707, where he was Elk of the Year two times and previously was the chaplain.  He retired from Texas Eastern as station chief after 30 years of employment, and he served in the US Navy during WWII.

A Memorial Service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford,  at 8PM on Monday, January 26th,2015 .


Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park .
