Mr. Richard C. Claycomb, 72, of Heritage Road, Osterburg, died Thursday, March 6th, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Claycomb was born in Roaring Spring on Friday August 15, 1941,  the son of the late Paul and Hilda (Hoover) Claycomb.

He is survived by  Sister- Karen wife of  Gene Waybright, Osterburg; Sister- Nina wife of  Russel Miller, New Paris; Niece- Melanie wife of  Rick McDonald, New Paris; Niece- Stephanie wife of  Shawn Miller, New Paris; Niece- Dawn wife of  Brad Hess, New Paris; Nephew- Tyler Miller, New Paris and eight great nieces and nephews.

Richard was employed in 1962 with the Department of Forests & Waters at State Park Regional Office #3, Shawnee State Park.  He was drafted into the military in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War.

He was also employed as a purchasing agent for the Hiram G. Andrews Center and then as a purchasing agent for the Somerset State Hospital.  He finished his work as a public servant in 1996, retiring from the Department of Corrections.

Richard attended the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Osterburg.  He served as a President of the Bedford Jaycees and Commander of the American Legion Post #113 in Bedford.  He was a member of the Bedford Lions Club and the Visitors Bureau and was self-employed as a step-on tour guide.

A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Osterburg at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 10th, 2014  with Pastor Donna Wolfinger officiating.

Interment will be held at Osterburg Community Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Pleasantville and Monday 10:30 -11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Osterburg.
