Rev. D. Lloyd Abbott, 82, of Falcon Rd.., Bedford, died at 7:35 AM, Monday, September 1st, 2014 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Abbott was born in Cambridge, MD on Saturday, April 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Rev. Clarence J. and Lola L. (Huffman) Abbott.
On May 16, 1950, he married Doris O. (Jewell) Abbott.
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Rev. Darcy W. husband of Patricia (Junkins) Abbott, Silver Spring, MD; Son- Michael D. Abbott, Bedford; Son- Richard L. husband of Krista (Anderson) Abbott, Howey-In-The-Hills, FL; Daughter- Renee J. wife of Craig Ickes, Bedford; Daughter- Beverly D. wife of Calvin Helsel, Jr., Bedford; Sister- Etta Hastings, Laurel, DE; Brother- Samuel Abbott, Cleveland, TN; Brother- David Abbott, Phoenix, AR; Brother- William Abbott, Atlantic, VA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Wayne Abbott, four sisters, Elizabeth Bowden, Emily Cook, Delma Bowden & Norma Jean Caldwell and by three brothers, Clarence Abbott, Rev. Emerson Abbott & Dr. Fred Abbott.
Rev. Abbott was a retired Church of God Pastor, with Home Office in Cleveland, TN, , serving 47 years. He was an Ordained Bishop in The Church of God and served in many offices of the church, including on the State Council and the Youth Board. Rev. Abbott currently was serving on the Board of Directors for the Retired Ministers and was a golf starter at the Bedford Springs Hotel for the past ten years. He enjoyed being out of doors and loved nature and was an avid golfer. Rev. Abbott was deeply committed to his family and his faith and he will be dearly missed
A funeral service will be held at the Everett Church of God at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 with Rev. William Kisner, Rev. Woodrow Alley & Rev. Dr. Ken Bell officiating.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Everett and Saturday 10:00 - 10:30 AM at the church.
