Mr. Raymond R. Berkey, 82, of Old Quaker Church Road, Fishertown, died at 7:21 PM, Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mr. Berkey was born in Lincoln Township on Monday, March 6, 1933, the son of the late Harry and Trella (Carrel) Berkey.
He is survived by Brother- Chester husband of Barbara (Cauffman) Berkey, Fishertown; Brother- Shimer husband of Shirley (McCombie) Berkey, State College; Sister- Hattie wife of Dale Berkey, Johnstown. Raymond is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Berkey, Violet Berkey & Ruth Blough and by seven brothers, Enos, Roy, Joe, Emory, Paul, Anson & Carl.
Raymond served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for Leppert Construction in New Paris. Raymond also worked as a logger for Harry Cameron and was a former Napier Township Supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Pleasantville VFW Post #9219 and enjoyed fishing. Raymond was a wonderful brother, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.
Interment will be held at Mount Union Cemetery, Lovely.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Schellsburg.
