Pearl Evelyn (Gates) Claycomb

August 13, 1920 — December 17, 2010

Pearl Evelyn Claycomb, 90, formerly of Reynoldsdale, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Donahoe Manor, Bedford.

Mrs. Claycomb was born on Friday, August 13, 1920 in Osterburg, the daughter of the late Elmer and Nettie (Price) Gates.

She was the wife of Daniel W. Claycomb who preceded her in death on December 29, 1982.

She is survived by a Daughter- Linda wife of James Patton of Somerset; Son- Harry Claycomb husband of Carol (Morgart) of Reynoldsdale; Daughter- Betty wife of John Wilson of Reynoldsdale; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; Amy Fochtman and husband Chris; John Patton; Thad Wilson and wife Kelly; Lacey Claycomb and fiancé Nick Roth; Kimberly Barefoot and Ray Barefoot and Mark Potts, who Pearl regarded in heart as a grandson.  She is also survived by three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; Gabe Fochtman; Addy Pearl Wilson; Evelyn Grace Fochtman; Amanda Hershberger and Evan Ickes; two sisters-in-law, Della Jane Gates and Ida Pearl Frazier and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Bertha Chilcoat, Mary Bagley and Hazel Gates and by two brothers; Earl Gates and Lewis Gates.

Pearl was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Fishertown.  She retired from Chestnut Ridge High School where she was a cafeteria employee.  She was cooked in these restaurants; Chilcoats, The Ivy Stone and Five Gables.

Pearl loved spending time with her family.  She took good care of them.  Pearl enjoyed going to church, cooking, eating out, reading, gardening and traveling before he health problems caused her to reside in Donahoe Manor for the eight years of her life.

A funeral service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joseph Shawley, Hospice Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be held at Horne Church Cemetery in Alum Bank.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 10:00  - 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to In Touch Hospice, Bedford or Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Fishertown.
