Patricia (Rommel) Shuster

Patricia Rommel Shuster, 84, Everett, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home after brief Hospice care.

She was born in Glassport, PA, the daughter of Frank and Harriett (Lyon) Rommel. She married E. G. Bud Shuster on August 27, 1955, in Glassport, PA.

Surviving are her husband, Bud; five children:  Peggy Statler (Paul), Congressman Bill Shuster, Debbie King (Greg), Bob Shuster (Kelly), and Gia Dixon (Grove); twelve grandchildren: Bobby, Ali, Megan, Garrett, Emily, Greg, Will, Michael, Andrew, Jonathan, Daniel, and Jack; a sister, Mary Pforsich, sister-in-law, Barbara Rommel and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.  She is also survived by four special people who provided her friendship, comfort and care: Jackie Verdiglione, Karen College, Bill Clark, and Rebecca Harclerode Shuster.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Frank Rommel.

Patty graduated from Glassport High School and The Robert Morris Business College. She was employed by the Atomic Power Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She served on the Board of the Bedford Memorial Hospital for 25 years; was President of the Everett PTA, President of the Everett High School Band Parents, President of various Everett Sports Boosters Clubs, spent countless hours giving back to the community, working with the band, chorus, athletic and educational activities, and always welcoming to her home so many in the community.

A member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), she was a descendent of John Lyon, one of George Washington’s officers, and Col. Robert Lyon, who was decorated for Gallantry, wounded twice in the Civil War, and served as Mayor of Pittsburgh, and also Dr. Robert Anderson, founder of the Bedford Springs.

Her life was dedicated to her children and her family, and her tireless dedication will continue to impact them for many generations.

Friends will be received at the Jack Geisel Funeral Home in Everett on Friday October 7th from 6-8 PM and Saturday Oct. 8th from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM on Sunday, October 9th, officiated by Father Malachi Van Tassell and Reverend Bob Robertson. Private Interment will be held at Shuster Circle 7 Farm Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Patty to the Everett Fire Co. No. 1, Mechanic St, Everett, PA 15537, or to the Everett Area Renaissance Foundation, Inc., which benefits the school district and community, 427 East South St, Everett, PA 15537.
