Mrs. Olive M. McDaniel, 96, formerly of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Mechanicsburg.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Juniata Township on April 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie (Beltz) Diehl.
On September 26, 1945, she married Bernard L. McDaniel. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1978.
She is survived by her son, Larry L., widower of Linda (Miller) McDaniel of Etters; her daughter, Carolyn S. DeStephano and her husband Robert of Mechanicsburg; her grandson, Douglas DeStephano and his wife Jennifer; her granddaughter, Erin McDaniel; her grandson, Bryan DeStephano and his wife Ashley; her grandson, Justin McDaniel, and his wife Lisa, and by four great- grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew, Maggie and Jilliana. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Wyatt Daniel DeStephano, an infant brother, Homer, two sisters, Pearl Wertz & Ruth Bloom and by three brothers, Dennis Diehl, Sewell Diehl & Warren Diehl.
Olive was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, where she served on the Altar Guild, was a member of the Sunshine Circle, helped prepare luncheons, and served where needed.
Olive worked as a waitress at the Midway Plaza before being married. After raising her family, she worked as a quilter at Old Bedford Village, as a tour guide at Fort Bedford and as an operator for Bedford County Control. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and canning.
Olive's greatest passion in her life was her family. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 with Rev. Raymond Short officiating. Friends are invited to call on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church.
Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Olive's honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 West Penn Street, Bedford, PA.
