Mr. Norman W. Cathers, age 77, of Pavia Road, Imler, died Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Altoona.
Mr. Cathers was born in Bedford on Thursday, November 10, 1938, the son of the late Benjamin and Mary Etta (Claar) Cathers.
On March 17, 1968, he married Shirley J. (Ellis) Cathers. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Ronald W. Cathers, Pavia; Son- Raymond W. Cathers, Pavia; Grandson- Dillon M. Cathers, Middletown, IN; Grandson- Quinton A. Cathers, Middletown, IN; Brother-in-Law- Melvin Davis, Weyant and two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Pearl and a sister, Betty Jane Kidd.
Mr. Cathers was a member of the Altoona Bible Church and a 1956 graduate of Bedford High School. He worked as a Scarfer for 36 years at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown. Norman was an associate member of the Everett VFW Post #2088 and enjoyed country music and square dancing. He was an avid fisherman and ginseng hunter. Norman was a loving husband, wonderful father & grandfather and devoted friend. He will be missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville at 2:30 PM on Saturday, December 12th, 2015 with Pastor Stewart McClelland officiating.
Interment will be held at Pavia Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home in Pleasantville.
