Ned H. McDonald

Ned H. McDonald, 96, Pennknoll Road, Everett, formerly of Green Slope Road, Imler died at 7:19 AM, Friday, October 26th, 2018 at Pennknoll Village. Mr. McDonald was born in King on December 30, 1921, he was the son of the late Harry and Edna (Fickes) McDonald. Ned was an important part of the community throughout his life. Ned was a dairy farmer in Weyant for nearly 40 years, retiring in his mid 80's. Ned used to huckster produce, such as corn and tomatoes he had grown on the farm to various places in Bedford County. In addition to farming full-time, Ned also worked for 25 years for REA (Rural Electric Cooperative). Mr. McDonald was a member of Weyant United Methodist Church,Imler  as well as Republican Committeeman- Lincoln Township, a member of the board of directors for REA and the Founder of Green Slope Farm. Ned loved bluegrass music and has traveled all over the countryside to hear the bands play and the musicians sing. Ned married his wife Vergie M. (Black) McDonald whom he married on February 5, 1948 and they were married more than 55 years before she died November 12, 2003. He is survived by  Son- Rickey husband of  Roxanne (Berkey) McDonald, Osterburg; Son- Galen husband of  Sonya (Feathers) McDonald, Imler; Daughter- Peggy wife of  Charles Provance, New Paris; Step Daughter- Nancy Claycomb-Corle, Osterburg. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Ned is preceded by Granddaughter - Brenda Corle, Grandson - Bobby Corle, Brother- Roy McDonald and Sister - Lois Johnston.
Friends will be received Sunday October 28, 2018 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc A Funeral Service will be held  at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville, PA. at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 29th, with Pastor John Mackey officiating.  Interment at St. Marks Cemetery at King
