Mildred K. Koontz

Mrs. Mildred K. Koontz, 93, of Egolf Road, Bedford, died Thursday, February 18th, 2016 at Colonial Courtyard.

Mrs. Koontz was born in Friends Cove on Friday, March 24, 1922,  the daughter of the late Roy V. and Daisy (Nevitt) Koontz.

On December 19, 1944, she married Franklin A. Koontz.  In addition to her husband she is survived by Daughter- Linda, wife of John Shaub, Hudson, OH; Daughter- Debbie Koontz, San Diego, CA; Grandchildren- Hayley & Andrew; Sister- Florence, wife of Joe Ritchey, Friends Cove; Sister- Margaret, wife of Donald DeArment, Everett.

Mildred was a member of the Friends Cove United Church of Christ, where she was involved in various groups throughout the years.  She was first employed part-time with the government and the Williams Company.  Mildred then went on to work at the telephone company until her retirement.  She was a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter #41 of the Eastern Star.

Mildred was a volunteer at Homewood at Martinsburg.  She loved spending time with her family, especially vacationing at Stone Harbor, NJ and taking shopping trips with her sisters.  Mildred was a talented craftswoman, enjoying knitting, crocheting and ceramics.  She was loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.

Interment will be held at Doublebrick Church Cemetery, Friends Cove.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from Noon -- 1:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
