Melvin E. Miller

Mr. Melvin E. Miller, 93, of Bedford, died Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at Colonial Courtyard.

Mr. Miller was born in Bedford on December 1, 1924,  the son of the late William Miller and Pearl Miller-Naugle.

On January 2nd, 1946, he married Mary Katheryn Miller.  She preceded him in death on January 8, 2017.

Melvin is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brother, Ernest Miller and Kenneth Miller.

Mel was a member of the Wolfsburg United Methodist Church.  He was a 1943 graduate of Bedford High School and served in the US Navy during World War II.  Melvin worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad.  He was a lifetime member of the Bedford Elks Lodge #1707.  Melvin was also a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and  a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F & AM.  He loved his dog Loki and enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, golfing, playing cards, gardening and mowing his lawn.  Melvin was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Melvin loved his family, especially his beloved wife of 71 years, Mary.  He was a wonderful uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 25th, 2018.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
