Mrs. Mary Jane Whitesell, 83, of Martinsburg, formerly of Bedford, died Monday, February 13th, 2017 at Homewood at Martinsburg.
Mrs. Whitesell was born at home in Osterburg on April 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mae (Rininger) Hull.
On June 3, 1956, she married John S. Whitesell, Jr. In addition to her husband she is survived by Daughter- Patricia wife of Walter Kuzemchock, Frenchville; Son- Edward husband of Bonnie (D'Uva) Whitesell, Osterburg; Daughter- Katherine wife of Joseph Holovich, Everett. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Abbie Conlon, Mary Kenney, Brian Kenney & Andrew Kenney and three great grandchildren, Caylie, Blake & Blaine. She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Kuzemchock.
Mary Jane was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Home Economics. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a Penn State Home Economist. After her marriage to John, Mary Jane was a homemaker and excelled at gardening and home canning. She was very active in her church and served as a 4-H Leader in Bedford. She enjoyed camping, music and along with her husband, traveled the world. Mary Jane loved her family and was a wonderful wife, a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and if you were her friend, she was a blessing in your life. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bedford United Methodist Church, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24th, 2017 with Mr. Jim Miller & Mr. Glen Rheam officiating.
Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Bedford United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Jane to the Bedford United Methodist Church.
