Mary Grace (Muir) Benna
July 9, 1931 — November 7, 2014
Mrs. Benna was born in Bolivar on Thursday, July 9, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Clark) Muir.
On December 15, 1951, she married Richard A. Benna.
In addition to her husband she is survived by Daughter- Sharon wife of Wayne Gerney, Jennerstown; Daughter- Barbara wife of Sam Beard, Manns Choice; Son- Robert husband of Jean (Tew) Benna, Manns Choice; Daughter- Jill wife of Philip Hochycko, Upper Yoder; Daughter- Gail wife of Mark Wertz, Manns Choice; Brother- John Muir, Shrewsbury. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Heather Clark, Michele Branter, Colleen Grajeda, Keith Thomas, Cheryl Krassnoski, Rebecca Heisey, Rena Benna, Ted Wertz, Misty Wertz, Megan Wertz,Sarah & Beth and 13 great grandchildren, Rachel, Drew, Leni, Ryan, Sean, Aiden, Kyle, Trista, Kelly, Scotty, Amanuel, Alicia & Jordan. She was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Maurer, a brother, George Muir, a grandson, Richard Benna & a son-in-law, Barry Thomas.
Mrs. Benna was a charter member of the United Church of Schellsburg and was a member of the Women's Society, helping with dinners and fundraisers at the church. She graduated from the Irwin Vocational School in Pittsburgh and worked for Jones & Laughlin Steel in Pittsburgh until she was married.
After her marriage, Mary was a homemaker and worked on the family farm and in the orchard. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Mary was very generous and would do anything for anyone. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at United Church of Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 with Rev. Ruth Shaver officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg and on Wednesday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the church.
