Mrs. Mary Etta  Hankinson, 88, formerly of New Baltimore and Bedford, died at 8:55 PM, Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 at In Touch Hospice, Somerset.

Mrs. Hankinson was born in Juniata Township on Wednesday, October 3, 1923,  the daughter of the late Michael and Virginia (Fair) Hillegass.

In June of 1945, she married to James A. Hankinson, who preceded her in death on December 14, 1965.

She is survived by  Son- Eugene M. husband of  Susan (Walker) Hankinson, Berlin, PA and Mt. Pleasant, SC; Daughter- Audrey J. Hankinson, Somerset; Son- Stephen J. husband of  Anna (Fochtman) Hankinson, New Baltimore; Brother- Clarence "Hun" Hillegass, Schellsburg. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hankinson and by two brothers, John Hillegass and Henry Hillegass and by a sister, Edith Hauger

Mary Etta was member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  She was employed as the head of the Area Agency on Aging in Central City and worked in the kitchen at Area Agency on Aging in Somerset County.  Mary Etta also worked at Old Bedford Village.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 31st 2012, with Father George Jacopac celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.  A vigil for the deceased will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
