Mary B. Styer

Mary B. Styer, 92, of Bedford, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at her home on Main Road, with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Philadelphia on December 22, 1931, daughter of the late Walter and Blanche (Franks) Bates.

On November 3, 1951, she married her husband Joseph W. Styer, and were happily married 72 years.

She is survived by daughter- Cynthia wife of James Martin, of Phoenixville; son- Wayne "Bodie" fiancé of Barb Straight, of Bedford; daughter- Joanne Styer, of Pittsburgh; daughter- Tammy wife of Derry Furry, of New Enterprise; son- Russell Styer fiancé of Lacy (Weimer), of Bedford; daughter-in-law- Christine Styer, of West Chester; fifteen grandchildren: Michael (Michelle) Styer, Daniel (Jessica) Styer, Joseph (Brittney) Styer, Steven (Jamie) Styer, Luke (Heidi) Martin, Ben (Ashley) Martin, Zachary (Andrea) Martin, Shaun (Julie) Styer, Ryan (Amber) Styer, Cory (Erica) Furry, Whitley (Cy) Mellott, Justin (Caitlyn) Styer, Jarrod (Shae) Styer, Jacob (Peyton) Styer, Kip Stiles; along with 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Nancy, Shirley and brother Tom. Mary is preceded in death by son- Bruce A. Styer, brothers: David, Walter, and sister- Delores.

Mary was affiliated with the Trinity United Church of Christ, Bedford. She was a member of the Bedford County Draft Horse and Animal Club. She never missed a Bedford County Fair since 1971. Mary was apart of the Dairyland Ice Cream Stand and a member of the Dairy Princess Committee.

She was a homemaker and lifetime farmwife. She loved cooking for her family, oil painting, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates with her husband Joe. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, loved Bassett Hounds, especially her beloved Harley. Mary bowled in numerous bowling leagues through her younger days, an avid card player. She always enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed planning family events, especially in recent years the Styer Family Reunion.

A viewing will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 12-2 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes with Rev. Dr. Bill Shrout officiating.

Interment will be at Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, Bedford, PA.
