Mrs. Marietta B. Sands, 89, of Everett, went home to be with her heavenly father and was reunited with her beloved husband at 1:30 AM, Thursday, April 5th, 2012 at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg.
Mrs. Sands was born in Everett on Monday, October 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (Jay) Snyder.
On October 11, 1940, she married Robert M. Sands, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2003.
She is survived by Daughter- Mary Jane Browell, Everett; Son- Robert M. "Marty" Sands, Jr. husband of Nancy (Latta), Everett; Daughter- Barbara L. wife of Donald M. Boor, Ashland, VA; Daughter- Linda L. wife of John B. Hall, Moscow; Brother- Paul husband of Geneva Snyder, Akron, OH; Sister- Pauline wife of J.D. "Smitty" Smith, Bedford; Sister- Kathleen wife of Thomas Harclerode, Everett; Sister- Betty Jane wife of Donald Baker, Akron, OH; Brother- Marvin Snyder companion of Nancy Foor, Everett. She is also survived by ten grandsons, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbert Snyder and a son-in-law, Gary Browell
Marietta was a member of the First Christian Church in Everett, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and helped with the funeral meals. She was a homemaker and was employed as the head cook at Everett High School for ten years. She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge. Marietta was an excellent baker, known for her homemade baking, especially her cinnamon rolls, apple dumplings, bread and pies. She was a wonderful wife and mother, extending not only her maternal love to her children but also true friendship. Marietta's greatest joy was being "Grammy" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding delight in spending time with them and watching them grow. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at First Christian Church, Everett at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 7th, 2012 with Rev. Robert Robertson officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Raystown Road, Everett and on Saturday from Noon - 1:00 PM at the church.
