Mrs. Lorrayne Mummau Heffley Jones, 88, of S. Richard St., Bedford, formerly of Chambersburg and Lancaster County, entered into transition at 5:30 PM, Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Manheim on March 28, 1925, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mabel (Cassel) Mummau.
In January of 1960, she married Harold R. Jones. He preceded her in death October 20, 2011.
She is survived by Son- Melvin Heffley, Jr. husband of Nancy, New Bloomfield; Son- Donald husband of Barbara Heffley, Stevens; Son- Ronald husband of Susan Heffley, Gordonsville; Son- Dale husband of Nancy Heffley, Elizabethtown; Daughter- Dr. Ruth Jones, Bedford; Grandson- Evan husband of Kristen Heffley, Wrightsville; Grandson- Scott husband of Jennifer Heffley, Eaton, CO; Granddaughter- Rebecca wife of Michael Hemperly, Marietta; Grandson- Shawn Heffley, Telluride, CO; Granddaughter- Nicole wife of Kevin Myers, Clay; Granddaughter- Tonia wife of Thomas Leonard, Charlottesville, VA; Granddaughter- Krystal Heffley, Orlando, FL; Sister- Ester Baker, Kittanning; Brother- John husband of Dorothy Mummau, Shippensburg; Sister- Mabel wife of John Hershey, Marietta. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cassel and Abraham.
Lorrayne was very active with the Crystal Cathedral Ministries in Garden Grove, CA. She was the owner and operator of Lorrayne's Tot to Teens Children Clothing Boutique in Downtown Chambersburg for 14 years. Following that, her and her husband, Harold operated Nana's Wash House in Chambersburg for 20 years. She was also the creator of the Fiddler's Road Housing Development in Scotland, Pennsylvania, where she designed and was hand-on in the construction of several of the houses.
Lorrayne found immense enjoyment in gardening and won accolades for the design and execution of many of her visions. She also took pleasure from mentoring young women who were struggling with their life choices and kept in contact with many of these ladies throughout the years.
A funeral service will be held at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 with Rev. Raymond Short officiating.
Interment will be held at Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford and Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg and Thursday 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Chambersburg.
