Mrs. Lois M. Bingham, 88, of Cortland Road, New Paris, formerly of Bedford, died Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Michelle and Travis Fleegle, who took excellent care of her for almost five years.
Mrs. Bingham was born in Bedford on Tuesday, January 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Raymond and Juna (Shearer) Shaffer.
On November 28, 1949, she married Harry W. Bingham. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1965.
She is survived by Son- Thomas husband of Diane Bingham, Bedford; Son- Roger Bingham, Albuquerque, NM; Son- Norman Bingham, Oklahoma; Daughter- Norma Bingham, Mechanicsburg; Daughter-in-Law- Deb Bingham, Confluence; Sister- Helen Shaffer, Bedford. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Dwayne and Brian Bingham of Florida, John Bingham of York, Michelle Fleegle of New Paris, Melanie Loop of Bedford, Matthew Bingham of Bedford, Zachary, Corrine, Rachel & Natalie Bingham of Oklahoma and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Bingham, son, Gary Bingham, sister Charity Shaffer, brother Cecil Shaffer and sister-in-law, Faye Shaffer.
Lois was a graduate of Bedford High School. She was a member of the Bald Hill Lutheran Church, where she was the treasurer for many years. Lois was a homemaker for many years and later in her life she worked at Old Bedford Village through the Green Thumb Program until her retirement. Lois was a member of the Air Force Mothers and before her illness she was well known for her baking, especially cinnamon rolls. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and sister and she will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 with Pastor Jenny Barnes officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
