Mr. Lloyd C.  Felten, 84, of  Daveys Lane, Manns Choice, died at 2:15 AM, Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at The Community Living Center of the VA Medical Center in Altoona.

Mr. Felten was born in New Baltimore on Friday, September 10, 1926,  the son of the late Charles H. and Marie J. (Weimer) Felten.  He grew up in a family of fourteen children and attended Berlin Brothersvalley Schools.

On November 28, 1946, he married the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" E. (Wolfhope) Felten.  In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Nancy C. wife of  Earnest Diehl, Manns Choice; Daughter- Kathleen wife of  James Thompson, Cypress, TX; Brother- William Felten, Schellsburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dan Diehl, Andrew Diehl, Valleri Weyant, Melissa Felten, James Thompson, Brian Thompson and Christopher Thompson, and seven great grandchildren, Drew H., Max, Chloe, Theresa, Anthony J., Jack and Annaliesa.  He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Marie Felten, Madie Miller, Mary Felten, Trudy Fochtman, Edith Hurley, Ida Kimmell and Delores Dayton and by five brothers, Edmund "Bud Felten, Norbert Felten, Charles Felten, Robert "Pete" Felten and James "Lindy" Felten.

Lloyd served in the US Navy during W.W.II as a Baker Third Class, where he participated in the Pacific Campaign in Okinawa as a Seabee.  He remained overseas following the war until he sailed home to the States and was honorably discharged.     Lloyd was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Bedford where he served as a lector and Eucharistic  Minister.  He also helped build the recreation hall at St. John's Catholic Church in New Baltimore.

Lloyd worked for both Pennsylvania DOT and Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown.  He was the owner and operator of Felten's  Amoco in Manns Choice for 32 years.  He was known for his fair and exceptional mechanical service.  Stories abound over the years from customers who praised him for his dedication and caring spirit.  Lloyd enjoyed camping with his family, where he was able to share his love for the outdoors, music, dancing and adventure with his children and grandchildren.  In his later years, he supplied his friends and family with handmade birdfeeders so that they could share in his joy of birdwatching.

Lloyd served on the Board of Directors for Bedford Area School District.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Council 1439  and the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of the Community Living Center of the VA Medical Center in Altoona for their gracious and caring support during Lloyd's final days.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 27th, 2011 with Father Raymond Crosser celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at St. John's Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where a Rosary Service for the deceased will be held at 8:45 PM.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
