Leonard N. Green

Mr. Leonard N. Green, 83, of Old Quaker Church Road, Fishertown died at 3:57 PM, Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Green was born in Costa, WV on Thursday, January 26, 1928,   the son of the late Charley and Goldie (Easter) Green.

On July 14, 1957, he married Eleanor J. (Geisler) Green. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Gary K. husband of  Beverly (Alderton) Green, Frostburg, MD; Daughter-in-Law- Philicia H. (Bennett) Green, Garden Valley, CA; Sister- Doris Midgley, Elk Grove, CA; Brother- Minyard Ray Green, Sutton, WV; Brother- Charley Green, Lindville, WV. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Vincent and Sierra. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry in March of this year.  He was also preceded in death by four infant siblings and a sister, Lena

Leonard served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy for 20 years, serving his country during the Korean and Vietnam War eras.  He was honorably discharged in March of 1967.  He then worked for the PA Turnpike Commission for 23 years.

Leonard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford.  He was also a member of the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440, the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and a former active member of the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

A Funeral Service will be held  at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30th, 2011 with Vicar Tormod Svensson officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
