Lawrence "Larry" Daniel Brest

Lawrence “Larry” Daniel Brest passed away March 25, 2019 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

He was born on March 5, 1958 in Union City, PA at the Union City Hospital, son of the late Lewis Leroy Brest and Belva Jane (Headley) Brest.

Larry is survived by his loving sister- Suzanne H. (Brest) and her husband Baxter D. Wellmon, West Chester, PA.  Also surviving is what he considered lovingly as his children; Dorothy Jane (Murphy) Huth, Melissa (Karns) and Travis Noland, Jennifer and husband Willy Wills, Charles Karns and wife Betty: Grandchildren- Faith, Kaydence, Hayden, Alyssa, Nathan, Travis Jr., William, Dennis, Kevin, Bethany, Taylor, Charles Jr., and Leeann. He is also survived by nieces- Lynette (Wellmon) McBrearty, Kristen (Wellmon) Jawad and nephew Dr. Drew Wellmon and 7 total great nieces and nephews. Mr. Brest is preceded in death by brother- Lewis Leroy Brest, Jr; and granddaughter Tyra.

Larry was a graduate of the Chestnut Ridge High School in Bedford County, PA and lived in New Paris his entire adult life, he had a home in New Paris. He was well known and respected in the community as a painter of commercial and farm buildings as well as private homes. He spent many hours in the outdoors, watching wildlife, including his favorite birds in his yard. Larry also enjoyed gardening.

He loved his community, many friends and family who loved him dearly and he found his way to Jesus at Bedford Valley Assembly of God. His constant companion was his faithful dog- Hoss. Larry enjoyed music and playing his drum sets.  Just before Larry became sick, he had set his drums up at church to play.

A memorial service will be announced and held at a future date by the family. Larry’s wishes were for cremation when deceased.
