LaFerne H. (Hinton) Wright

LaFerne H. Wright, 97, of Niles, Michigan, formerly of Bedford and Springhope, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at West Woods of Niles Nursing home, Niles, MI.

She was born in Windber on November 29, 1925, daughter of the late Carl and Ruth (Smith) Hinton.

She married her husband Harry D. “Bud” Wright, who preceded her in death on December 19, 1995.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen Beegle, Harrisburg; two sons, Robert (Joanne), Niles, MI and David (Eden), Vienna, VA; along with five granddaughters: Kristine, Karen, Jamie, Hannah, L.J; three great-grandchildren: Nick, Ryan, and Brooklynn, and sister-in-law Jean Wright, Titusville, FL. She is preceded in death by her two sisters.

LaFerne attended Cambria Rowe Business College.  She was employed for 19 years by Child Care Services of Bedford.  LaFerne was a volunteer for the Bedford Area Senior Citizens for 12 years at the Fort Bedford Apartments.

LaFerne was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church since 1999.  Prior to that she was a member of the Point United Methodist Church for over 50 years.  While at Point UMC, she served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, Youth Leader, and Director of Special Programs.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 12-2 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.  A funeral service will follow at 2 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home with Jim Miller officiating. Interment will be at Fishertown Cemetery, Fishertown.
