Karen S. (Kegg) Hammer

Mrs. Karen S. Hammer, 69, of Chalybeate Road, Bedford, died at 10:43 PM, Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Hammer was born in Bedford on Wednesday, June 20, 1945,  the daughter of the late  William A. Kegg and Alma (Suter) Kegg-Lippincott.

On February 2, 1979, she married Roger R. Hammer.

In addition to her husband she is survived by Son- G. Todd Smith, Bedford; Daughter- Julie Lynn (Smith) wife of  Gerry Scritchfield, Hyndman; Step Daughter- Misty Lynn (Hammer) Kekevian, Phoenix, AZ; Sister- Linda Future, Bedford; Sister- Colleen Hollis, Bedford; Brother- William H. Kegg, Winchester, TN. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Branden Todd Smith & fiancee Kassie Kotch, Jared Ty Smith, Rhiannon N. Scritchfield and Nathaniel E. Scritchfield, one great granddaughter, Oliveah Jade,  one step granddaughter, Isabella Kekevian.  She was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Fair & Maria Bowser and two brothers Roger Kegg & Wayne Kegg

Karen was a homemaker.  She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  Her greatest joy in life was being with her family and she will be greatly missed by all.

A graveside service will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bedford at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5th,  with Chaplain Dale Dibernardinis officiating.
