Mr. Joseph M. Conner, 88, of Clearville, formerly of Towson, MD, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 17th, 2015 after a lengthy illness at Rebecca's Personal Care Home, Everett.
Mr. Conner was born in Baltimore, MD on Saturday, August 27, 1927, the son of the late Francis Earl and Elizabeth (O'Connor) Conner.
On March 29, 1974, he married Betty Lee (Waterfield) Conner. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Page B. wife of Edward Dorsey, Towson, MD; Daughter- Tracy B. wife of Mark William Sterling, Clearville, formerly of Towson, MD; Son- R. Judson Bonsall, Towson, MD; Grandchildren- Justin B. Dorsey, Rachel A. Sterling, Benjamin W. Sterling, Natalie E. Sterling; Sister- Betty (Conner) wife of John L. Mueller, Towson, MD; & many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Conner graduated from Loyola High School in Maryland and then attended Loyola University, formerly Loyola College in Maryland. He spent his professional life in the construction industry. Joe worked for many years as a construction engineer, ultimately retiring as a business manager at Chesapeake Supply & Equipment Company in Laurel, MD.
Joe spent much of his childhood at the rink and on the pond, ice-skating, a pastime that bled into a lifelong passion. He played iced hockey throughout the years and was a fan of all levels of the sport, rooting exclusively for the NY Rangers in the NHL. Joe also played lacrosse. He was a fan of college football and cheered on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Joe enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food. He was an avid reader and loved listening to Big Band music and watching Westerns, especially the films of John Wayne. Joe treasured the memories he had of his Friday night poker games with his buddies and his trips abroad to Ireland and Canada.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and an overall good man. Joe will be missed greatly.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
