Joseph W. Ondesko

Mr. Joseph W. Ondesko, 96, of Sloans Hollow Road, New Paris, died Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Mr. Ondesko was born in Lilly on January 5, 1921, the son of the late George and Mary (Macko) Ondesko.
Mr. Ondesko is married to Kathleen (Smith) Robinson-Ondesko. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter from his second marriage, Jenny married to Mike Breedlove of Hendersonville, NC, his granddaughter, Chelsi Imler of Charlotte, NC and a grandson, Cody Boone of Hendersonville, NC.
Mr. Ondesko is also survived by the following children from his first marriage; Beverly of St. Louis, MO, Joseph, Jr. of Hickory, NC, George of Buffalo, NY and Ted of Detroit, MI. He is survived by the following step children; Michael Robinson of Ebensburg, Beth Feathers married to Neil of Claysburg and Amy Robinson of Bedford. He is also survived by many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Anne, his second wife, Florence (Lee), his daughter, Mary (O'Brien), his grandson, Justin Imler, and the following brothers and sisters; George, Betty, Ann, Mike and Paul.
Mr. Ondesko was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church where he served as an usher for over 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Ondesko worked as a coal miner in his early years in Cambria County. He then moved to Detroit, Michigan where he owned a paving company for many years before retiring and returning to Pennsylvania. Mr. Ondesko moved to Bedford in 1980. After moving to Bedford, he began repairing and selling lawnmowers, which he continued to do up to this year. Mr. Ondesko was a born salesman and had a love for life. He was a very loving man who just wanted family. He will be missed by many.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bedford, PA. at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 16th, 2017 with Father Richard Tomkowsky celebrant.
Committal Service will be held at the St. Thomas Cemetery, Bedford.
