Mr. Joseph W. Miller, 78, of Quaker Valley Road, New Paris, died at 4:20 PM, Monday, December 16th, 2013 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Miller was born in Fishertown on Sunday, August 25, 1935, the son of the late Violet Faye (Crissman) Miller.
On January 27, 1967, he married Emilie J. (Allison) Miller. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Daughter- Tamie wife of Kevin Oldham, Bedford; Grandson- Joshua, whom Joe greatly admired and Sister- Violet Dubbs, Martinsburg.
Joe was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. Joe first worked as a dispatcher for Eastern, Motor Freight, Industrial Uniform, Fairfoot Shoe Company and Trans Con. He retired from the PA Turnpike Commission after 30 years, where he worked as a toll collector at the Bedford Interchange. Joe graduated from Schellsburg in 1954, and was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Bedford Church of the Brethren at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 19th, 2013 with Pastor Marilyn Lerch officiating.
Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Bedford Church of the Brethren and Thursday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM, also at the church in Bedford.
