Mr. Joseph R. Crissman, 67, of Main Street, Osterburg died Monday, November 14th, 2011 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Crissman was born in St. Clairsville on Sunday, July 30, 1944, the son of the late Blair "Barney" and Isabelle (Weyant) Crissman.
On April 29, 1966, he married Cynthia (Imler) Crissman. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Joseph R. Crissman, Jr. husband of Sandra (Burgess), St. Clairsville; Daughter- Tonya Claar and fiancé Gary Baker, St. Clairsville; Sister- Donna widow of Robert Hillegass, Manns Choice; Sister- Norma widow of Robert Jones, Pennknoll Village; Sister- Phyllis wife of Merle Lamborn, New Enterprise; Sister- Fern widow of Ronnie Deremer. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joseph Crissman, Taylor Claar, TeiJa Claar and Apryle Crissman, and two great granddaughters, Savanna Crissman and Maddison Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jean and her husband Andy McCormick and a sister Dorla and her husband Frank Croyl
Joe was a member of Real Life Church, Assembly of God , formerly The Village Church. He helped with the planning and organization of many mission trips, first in 2003 to Reynosa, Mexico, then in 2004 to Opalocka, FL and then in 2009 to Ocean City, MD. Joe was involved in Love In the Name of Christ, Harvest House Senior Ministries and the men's "Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club". He worked as the manager of the former Better Tire Company. Joe served many years on the St. Clairsville Borough Council and was the initiator of Henderson Park. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, boating, fishing, cooking and playing Spider solitaire.
For Joe, the Lord Jesus Christ was his best friend, his wife was the love of his life, his children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye, but his major loves were Savanna and Maddison. .
A funeral service will be held at Real Life Church, Assembly of God, formerly The Village Church, Bedford, PA. at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 18th, 2011 with Pastor Brian Swain officiating.
Interment will be held at Osterburg Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-9 at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford and Friday from Noon - 1:00 PM at the church.
