Mr. John J. Yotko, 79, of Mill Road, Schellsburg, died at 8:15 PM, Thursday, October 30th, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Yotko was born in Shenandoah on Saturday, June 29, 1935, the son of the late William and Genevieve (Gunosky) Yotko.

On October 11, 1958, he married M. Hope (Will) Yotko.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Cynthia Ann wife of  David Johnson, Severn, MD; Son- John J. husband of  Janet (Kuyper) Yotko, Gurnee, IL; Daughter- Angela M. wife of  Mike Bisick, Somerset; Son- Matthew L. husband of  Alison (Maillard) Yotko, Boonton Twp., NJ; Sister- Mary Felegi, Shenandoah; Niece- Kathy Adams, Shenandoah. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters

John was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  John was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.  He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after 35 years of service.  Upon his retirement, he worked for the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.

John loved to fish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440, the Fraternal Order of the Police, the New Baltimore Sportsman's Club and he was a charter member of the New Baltimore Fire Company.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 3rd, 2014 with Father Richard Tomkosky celebrant.

Committal Services will be held at  St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
