John Andrew Thomas

Mr. John Andrew Thomas, 89, of South 5th St., Perkasie, formerly of Catasauqua, died at 8:50 PM, Monday, May 2nd, 2011 at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Coopersburg.

Mr. Thomas was born in Mahanoy City on Saturday, February 11, 1922, the son of the late John B. and Mary Thomas and the stepson of the late Sophie Thomas.

On May 25, 1946, he married Evelyn (Vandergrift) Thomas, a Bedford County Native. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Daniel G. husband of Mary (Pavlosky) Thomas, Granada Hills, CA; Son- Dennis G. husband of Linda Thomas, Waverly, NY; Son- Martin V. husband of Kimberly Thomas, Perkasie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Passarella, Mary Janesch and Veronica Shaner and by two brothers, Paul Thomas and Monsignor Joseph Thomas.

John served in the Marine Corps with the 3rd Marine Division during WWII. He was employed with Glasgow Inc. in Philadelphia as an operating engineer, retiring after 61 years of employment. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Catasauqua. John was also a member of the Flourtown-Sandy Run Sportsman's Association and the VFW Post in Catasauqua.

A funeral service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Raystown Road, Everett at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6th,2011 with Father Richard Tomkosky, officating.

Interment will be held at Woods Church Cemetery, Colerain Twp.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home in Everett.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
